Only after exactly 3 months of lightning-fast construction, the 1C parking area of the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project officially put into operation from April 16, 2026. This is not only the first item in the project complex to serve APEC to reach the finish line but also set a record for construction progress in the history of Vietnamese aviation infrastructure.
Along with the joy from parking lot 1C, other key items of the project also recorded impressive growth figures every day.
According to the progress report (recorded until April 17, 2026), runway (CHC) No. 2, 3, 300m long, is very close to completion. The cement concrete (BTXM) layer M150/25 has reached 95% of the workload. This is the most important foundation layer to create stability for the runway. Meanwhile, the high-quality surface concrete layer M350/45, which requires the most stringent construction techniques to withstand the load of wide-body aircraft, has also reached 31%.

According to the approved roadmap, it is expected that by June 30, 2026, IC No. 2 will be officially technically accepted. Immediately after that, flight standardization work to check navigation systems, traffic lights and flight safety will be deployed. If the indicators meet standards, Phu Quoc International Airport will officially put the second runway into operation in August 2026, helping to double the flight reception capacity here.
As for the station area, the construction atmosphere is also no less urgent. Passenger terminal T2 is designed inspired by the flaming phoenix wing, currently reaching 87% of the rough structure volume. Currently, the project has officially entered the stage of installing roof steel structure. Giant steel frames are gradually shaping the image of flaming phoenix wings reaching out strongly.
In particular, the VIP Terminal - which will welcome heads of state and high-level guests, is the item with the earliest progress in the terminal block. Up to now, 100% of the rough structure has been completed, and the roof steel structure has also reached 70%. The sophistication in the roof structure construction of the VIP Terminal is expected to fully reflect the artistic intention of the architect to turn this place into a "luxury living room" in the region.
At the same time, the parking area of the station area is also being urgently deployed. The M350/45 BTXM layer in area T2 has reached 10% and the VIP area has reached 13%. The synchronous deployment from the station to the parking area ensures that when the project is inaugurated, all links will reach a ready, smooth state and meet the highest service standards.
With a total deployment time of 18 months, the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project is one of the key projects to serve APEC 2027.

At the Nam Dao large construction site, the overnight construction pace of hundreds of motorized vehicles, along with thousands of workers, created an unprecedented acceleration race.
With this pace of progress, the "Phu Quoc miracle" is gradually becoming a reality, establishing new standards of speed and quality in infrastructure investment in Vietnam, contributing to making Phu Quoc one of the new aviation, tourism and event centers of the world.
