On December 29, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) announced that it will open a parallel section of National Highway 50 (from Trinh Quang Nghi to the existing National Highway 50 intersection) about 2km long on the morning of December 30.

However, the remaining section (from Trinh Quang Nghi to Nguyen Van Linh intersection) of more than 2km long has not been completed and opened to traffic due to the land clearance of 8 houses blocking the road.
Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Traffic Department said that the section through Gia Hoa residential area currently has 3 houses that have not been fully compensated by Gia Hoa Company.
A power station managed by Binh Chanh Power Company has not been relocated.

The section through Phong Phu 4 residential area still has 5 houses blocking the entire road in the area adjacent to Trinh Quang Nghi street. Khang Phuc Company, the management unit, has not yet completed compensation for the households.
The Traffic Committee has proposed that the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City and related units coordinate to mobilize and hand over the entire site before January 31, 2025.
This is to ensure that the construction work is completed and the entire remaining parallel section of National Highway 50 is opened to traffic before April 30, 2025.

In addition to the parallel route, the expansion of nearly 2.8km of the existing National Highway 50 is also behind schedule because 10 households have not completed dismantling their houses to hand over the site.
The Traffic Committee has proposed that the People's Committee of Binh Chanh district promptly resolve the issue thoroughly to speed up the progress and open National Highway 50 from the parallel road intersection to the border of Long An province before December 31, 2025.

The project to expand National Highway 50 through Binh Chanh district has a total length of nearly 7km, from the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to the border of Long An province.
The project has a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, divided into two main parts: Building more than 4km of new parallel road and expanding the existing route to 34m, for 6 lanes.
When completed, the National Highway 50 expansion project will enhance traffic connectivity and boost the economy between Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and the western provinces.
At the same time, this route also connects other important traffic axes such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Ring Road 3 (under construction) and Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard, contributing to completing the traffic network in the South of Ho Chi Minh City.
