Tran Thai Tong street connecting Hong Gai ward with Cao Xanh ward, has been put into use for more than 20 years.
After a long period of operation, many items on the route have deteriorated. The drainage system no longer meets the requirements, causing some locations to frequently be flooded when heavy rain combines with high tides, affecting people's travel and daily life.
Faced with the above situation, Hong Gai Ward People's Committee has organized surveys and developed a project to renovate, embellish and upgrade Tran Thai Tong street.
According to the investment plan, Tran Thai Tong street will be renovated and expanded from 4 to 6 lanes. The drainage system along both sides of the route will be renovated and rebuilt to increase water collection and drainage capacity.
The road surface elevation is also adjusted according to the design elevation, reducing the risk of flooding when heavy rain combines with high tides.
After completing the necessary procedures, the project is expected to be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The upgrading of Tran Thai Tong street is part of the urban embellishment plan, completing traffic infrastructure and handling flooding in the central area of former Ha Long city.
Along with this project, Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has issued a document requesting Hong Gai, Ha Long, Cao Xanh, Ha Lam, Ha Tu and Hoanh Bo wards to accelerate the progress of 15 urban renovation, upgrade, and embellishment projects combined with handling flooded points.
Request localities to build detailed progress for each project, each item; assign direct leaders to be in charge and mobilize human resources, machinery, and equipment to organize construction.
Regarding urban flood control, complete dredging and clearing of sewers, ditches, discharge gates, canals, streams, and regulating lakes within the management scope before August 15, 2026; maintain periodic dredging before each heavy rain and high tide; resolutely handle acts of encroachment, leveling, and obstruction of drainage corridors.
For projects that cannot be completely completed within the required time, the investor must organize rolling construction, completely complete each section of the route or independent items, limiting prolonged impact on people's travel and daily life.
In Hong Gai ward, the projects are concentrated in the Pham Ngu Lao, Yet Kieu, Tran Hung Dao areas, Vung Dang urban area and Bai Chay bridge resettlement area. The remaining projects are being implemented in Ha Long, Cao Xanh, Ha Lam, Ha Tu and Hoanh Bo wards.
