Tan Son Nhat T3 Station leaks for the second time, the construction contractor consortium speaks out

MINH QUÂN |

HCMC - On the afternoon of May 24, the representative of the consortium of contractors constructing the T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport said that the handling of the afternoon water leak incident had been completed on the same day.

At noon on May 24, a widespread heavy rain occurred in Ho Chi Minh City, causing a leakage pipe of the T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport. Because this is a vertical pipe, water from the roof flows down with great pressure, leaks out and flows straight into the station floor.

Specifically, the representative of the contractor's joint venture said that the amount of heavy rainwater from the station roof was collected and led through the trough system, then flowing into the infrastructure manholes through drainage pipes. However, at a connection position, the rubber gasket is exposed, causing the water to not be in the right direction but spilling out, flowing down the area where the flight procedures are done inside the station.

"Immediately after the incident, the unit urgently overcome. Engineers and workers were mobilized to the roof to check the entire drainage pipe system. So far, the leakage phenomenon has been processed. In tonight, the contractor will replace new gaskets and thoroughly handle the joint" - the representative of the contractor's joint venture.

It is worth mentioning that just over a month after the inauguration day (September 19), the T3 terminal had two water leak incidents.

Earlier, in the afternoon of 7.5, a heavy rain also made the waiting area for departure. The cause was later determined by the shrinkage of the roof system, where the adjacent between the main roof and the roof of the light.

The T3 passenger terminal construction project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total investment of nearly VND 11,000 billion.

Of which, package No. 12 - construction and installation of terminal equipment is worth VND9,034 billion.

Tan Son Nhat T3 Station started construction at the end of 2022 and was officially inaugurated on April 19, 2025.
