Flight VN1286 of Vietnam Airlines, departing at 5:55, carried 105 passengers from Ho Chi Minh City to Van Don (Quang Ninh).
This is the first step in the process of putting the most modern terminal in the country into operation, helping to improve the service capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport - the largest gateway in Vietnam today.

Not only contributing to reducing the load on the existing T1 terminal, Terminal T3 is also a prominent mark in the efforts to develop aviation infrastructure of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general.
The official inauguration ceremony of terminal T3 will take place on the morning of April 19, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

It is expected that by the end of April, all domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines (except for flights to/from Con Dao, Ca Mau and Rach Gia) will be transferred to operation at Terminal T3.
After Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air also plans to transfer all domestic flight operations to Terminal T3 in the near future.
The remaining airlines, such as Vasco, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines and Pacific Airlines, still operate at the existing T1 terminal.

The T3 terminal construction project has a total investment of nearly VND 11,000 billion, invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV).
The project started construction at the end of 2022, in which the main package is the construction of a passenger terminal, which will be implemented from August 2023.
Terminal T3 is designed to serve a maximum of 20 million domestic passengers per year, thereby increasing the total operating capacity of the entire Tan Son Nhat airport to 50 million passengers/year.
