The 500 kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project has a total length of about 229.95km/468 pole locations, passing through the two provinces of Lao Cai and Phu Tho.
The investor is Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), the investor's representative is Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1), with a total capital of more than VND 7,410 billion.
The project started construction in Lao Cai province on March 30, 2025. According to the direction of the Prime Minister, the project must be completed and energized before August 19, 2025.

In Lao Cai province, the line is located in 13 communes: Xuan Quang, Thuong Ha, Xuan Hoa, Bao Yen, Phuc Khanh (old Lao Cai province); Khanh Hoa, Tan Linh, Lam Thuong, Luc Yen, Muong Lai, Cam Nhan, Yen Thanh, Thac Ba (old Yen Bai province).
The length of the route is about 139.66 km with 273 pillar locations (old Lao Cai has 100 locations, Yen Bai has 173 locations), and 132 anchorages.

On July 5, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in communes such as Xuan Quang, Thuong Ha... of the new Lao Cai province, many additional pillars have now been completed, while others are in the process of making foundations to implement construction.
At the construction site, many machines, equipment and parts of the electric poles have been transported concentrated at the pole construction site to serve the construction process quickly.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (residing in Xuan Quang commune, Lao Cai new province) shared: "The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is a national key project. The early completion of construction to energize has a big role in ensuring energy security, serving production activities and industrial parks. Therefore, people are also looking forward to the day the project officially takes effect".

According to research, as of early July, the construction has completed digging the foundation at 259/273 locations, reaching 94.87%; casting the foundation at 243/273 locations, reaching 89.01%; erecting columns at 90/273 locations, reaching 32.96%; pulling the 01/132 cable about the anchor, reaching 0.75%.
Regarding site clearance, the compensation, support, and resettlement plan has been approved officially and 273/273 locations have been handed over.
Of which, 5/13 communes have completed payment and issued a decision to reclaim land; 3/13 communes have issued a decision to reclaim land, and have not yet completed payment to households; 5/13 communes have completed payment but have not yet issued a decision to reclaim land.
According to the investor's report, the packages in Lao Cai province are being implemented the fastest on the entire route. Faced with the pressure of the upcoming rainy season, the construction unit is speeding up the installation of steel poles for the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line to keep up with progress and ensure the safety of key national projects.

Meanwhile, according to Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, agencies, units and localities are urgently completing the organization of project site clearance; establishing a site clearance council to avoid affecting the overall progress of the project.
Recently, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee established 3 Working Groups to clear the site of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project (the section passing through Lao Cai province).
The unit is responsible for checking the progress and site clearance situation after organizing local authorities at 2 levels (colluding and handing over documents on compensation and site clearance; resettlement support...).
At the same time, grasp the difficulties and problems in the process of implementing land procedures, compensation, site clearance, and guide localities to resolve them.
