Don't let "dead time"
The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project has a total investment of more than 7,000 billion VND, the total length of the route is about 228.92km, passing through 4 provinces (Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc). This is a key project, aiming to transmit the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national grid; creating strong connections between areas in the power system.
Mr. Do Quang Khai - Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board 1 and Director of the Project Management Board - said that after starting the project, contractors immediately started production and construction on the entire route.
"D finalizing that this is a very hot project to ensure electricity supply for development, the contractor constructs with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "not having enough to do at night". Currently, package 1 of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line has completed the excavation and foundation casting work at 51/51 locations. The subcontract packages are being accelerated to dig, cast foundations, and race before the storm season, Mr. Do Quang Khai shared.
It is known that package 1 of the project includes 51 pillar locations, from VT1 to VT52, passing through Bao Yen and Bao Thang districts of Lao Cai province. The locations run through steep hills and narrow roads, many of which are inaccessible by motor vehicle. The weather in the Northwestern mountainous region often changes, when there is heavy rain, it will cause slippery conditions, hindering the transportation of materials and equipment.
Mr. Nguyen Cao Ngoc - Deputy General Director of Song Da Construction and Service Joint Stock Company, representative of the contractor consortium emphasized: "Absolutely do not let "dead time" - that is the motto of the brothers at the construction site. We take advantage of every hour and every minute when the weather is sunny to dig the foundation, pour concrete, and work on our knees continuously. Along with digging the foundation, we gathered equipment and materials to the locations very early. Workers are also arranged to take a day off right near the construction site, minimizing travel time.
Take advantage of all favorable conditions
Also according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, in some construction areas such as Lao Cai and Yen Bai with rugged mountain terrain, large slopes and many solid stones, the investor coordinated with the contractor to flexibly adjust the route to best suit, and at the same time coordinated with design consultants to change foundation solutions.
"The humid weather conditions and slippery terrain in the construction area are a big challenge. To ensure both progress and safety, the contractor takes advantage of favorable weather times to work overtime. Areas at risk of landslides on the slope have been strictly fenced off, said Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Dien Construction and Installation Company.
At 173 locations in Vinh Lac commune, Luc Yen district (Yen Bai), Mr. Nguyen Huu Thiet - Captain of Construction Team No. 6, Song Da 11 Northern Company Limited - said: The pipe support pole is 81m high, located on the field, so the construction is difficult. Currently, workers have completed the assembly of all areas and will carry out the crane to a higher level to continue the construction.
"The unstable weather, sometimes sunny and sometimes rainy, is very harsh, so we have arranged flexible human resources to take advantage of all favorable conditions during the day, ready to construct whenever possible. The brothers are determined to ensure progress and bring the project to the finish line on schedule, said Mr. Thiet.

By June 11, the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project had completed the road opening at 100% of locations. Regarding foundation excavation, on the entire route, about 81% of pole locations have been completed, 17% of locations are under construction, and 2% of pole foundation locations have not been completed. Over 2,000 workers and hundreds of machines and equipment are day and night sticking to the construction site stretching from Lao Cai to Vinh Yen, creating an urgent and vibrant construction atmosphere on the line.
