Gia Lai decided to end spontaneous traffic activities in Nui Mot Lake, to ensure the safety of irrigation works and facilitate people's travel.

On September 9, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan agreed on the policy of terminating the operation of local waterway traffic and spontaneous transportation in Nui Mot Lake, to ensure the safety of dams, reservoirs as well as people's lives and property.

This termination will be carried out after the route from Hiep Hung village (Canh Hiep commune) to Canh Tien village is completed and put into operation, creating favorable conditions for Canh Tien village residents to travel, no longer dependent on waterways.

The Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned Canh Vinh and An Nhon Tay communes to strengthen propaganda so that people clearly understand the policy, proactively arrange their daily life and production, and limit the impact on their lives. Localities need to coordinate with project management units to place signs, fences and summarize difficulties and problems arising during the implementation process, report to the Provincial People's Committee for timely consideration and resolution.

Assign Binh Dinh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to organize the placement of prohibition signs, warning signs of danger and install barriers at necessary locations to completely end spontaneous traffic in the Nui Mot lake.

In addition, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also directed relevant departments and branches to study and propose to competent authorities to adjust the function of the Nhon Tan - Canh Tien inland waterway to a tourism service route in the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Previously, when there was no Hiep Hung - Canh Tien route, people who wanted to go to Canh Tien village had to take a river trip of more than 10km through Nui Mot lake or walk across the forest for about 3 hours. Due to the steep and rugged mountain road, most people choose to take a boat across the lake to ensure more convenience.
