On July 28, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee and the working delegation had a working session with the leaders of the Gia Lai General Hospital.
Accordingly, Gia Lai General Hospital in Pleiku ward is a Grade II hospital, under the Department of Health, with a scale of 1,000 beds. Each year, the hospital receives and treats about 220,000 - 250,000 patients.
However, due to long-term investment, the hospital's buildings and construction items are now degraded, lacking capital to upgrade and deploy high-tech services.
The representative of the Provincial General Hospital suggested that the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee pay attention to upgrading infrastructure, purchasing specialized and modern medical equipment; allocating funds for repairing and purchasing equipment approved in 2025 - 2026 and the next phase.

The hospital also recommended that the Central Government consider adjusting the appropriate treatment regime for medical staff, while increasing human resource training, especially doctors and pharmacists.
At the meeting, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee affirmed: "In the coming time, the province will allocate resources for poverty reduction and investment in the two fields of health and education using resources from the central and local budgets and other legal support sources".
For Gia Lai General Hospital, the Provincial Party Secretary proposed to focus resources on building and developing the hospital into a Grade I hospital, prioritizing investment in important items.
Thereby, the hospital has enough capacity to undertake the task of caring for and treating people in the western part of the province, where there is a large area and a high poverty rate.
In addition, the hospital needs to expand cooperation, joint ventures, and associations with upper-level hospitals to receive professional support, transfer techniques, and sustainable development.
According to statistics from the Department of Health of Gia Lai province (old), in 2021, the health sector had 110 cases of resignation, of which 38 people applied for resignation (18 doctors). Disciplinary action against 11 people (including 10 doctors).
In the first 6 months of 2022, the Gia Lai health sector laid off 23 people, including 6 doctors. 14 civil servants, including 4 doctors, were unemployed.
The main reason for quitting is work pressure, while the treatment is not commensurate.
