On July 31, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province reported on the implementation of compensation, support for site clearance (GPMB) and resettlement for the North-South Expressway Construction Project in the East, the section passing through the province.
The expressway through Gia Lai (belonging to the old Binh Dinh) has 3 component projects with a total length of about 118km, passing through 19 communes and wards. The total investment of the 3 component projects is more than 47,600 billion VND. Of which, the cost of compensation, support and resettlement is nearly 5,000 billion VND.

The project reclaims more than 988 hectares of land, clears about 800 houses on the main route out of a total of 11,771 affected households, relocates about 6,835 graves and 2 national historical relics. There are 2 rest stops on the route: at Km77+820 (belonging to the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon component project) and at Km35+500 (belonging to the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon component project).
Up to now, localities and units of the province have completed compensation, support for site clearance and resettlement of the main route, handing over 100% of the site to the investor for construction. The implementation cost is VND 5,239 billion, of which VND 5,136 billion has been disbursed out of a total of VND 5,212 billion has been allocated.
The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Prime Minister consider the policy of upgrading and expanding National Highways 19B, 19C and DT629, DT634, DT638 to connect with expressway intersections, maximizing exploitation efficiency.
The province also requested the Ministry of Construction to direct Project Management Boards 2 and 85 (investors) to repair damaged local roads due to expressway construction, ensuring safe travel for people.
At the same time, coordinate to completely resolve arising issues such as adding a system of service roads and residential roads; technical sewers and ditches; handling silt and water damage; compensation for damages to cracked houses; relocating the traditional power lines across the expressway.
