On July 31, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan directed functional agencies and local authorities to strengthen the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The provincial chairman requested heads of agencies, units, functional sectors and People's Committees of coastal communes and wards to urgently complete the state management agency for seafood. At the same time, clearly define the responsibilities, tasks, and specific completion deadlines of each agency, force, and individual and regularly inspect and supervise the implementation results according to the 2-level local government mechanism.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan directed strict handling of responsibilities for organizations and individuals who do not fulfill their duties, push, avoid, delay or do not handle IUU fishing violations.
The Chairman of Gia Lai province assigned the Border Guard Command - Provincial Military Command to coordinate with relevant agencies to consolidate records and sanction administrative violations for all serious cases of fishing vessels exploiting IUU from 2024 to present; continue to handle crimes if there are signs of violations.
Direct Border Control Stations/Stations to arrange resources to guide fishermen to use the function of declaring procedures for exit, entry and exit from control stations, entering and leaving ports and other functions on the VNeID application; ensure that fishing vessels leaving ports must have a confirmation of leaving ports, when entering ports, they must enter the fishing port and notify the management agency for control.
The provincial police coordinated with functional forces in the South to review, investigate, prosecute and try the cases that have been prosecuted; continue to prosecute, prosecute and try acts of sending fishing vessels and fishermen to illegally exploit in foreign waters, as well as sending and transporting monitoring equipment...
The People's Committees of coastal communes and wards, together with competent authorities, grasp the quantity and control the operation of all fishing vessels in the community, fishing ports and in coastal areas; closely monitor the activities of ship owners, captains, fishermen, and brokers at high risk of violating foreign waters to promptly prevent them.
