On the morning of July 23, a representative of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai province said that they had taken samples for testing African swine fever after discovering a truck carrying a herd of pigs with signs of disease.
At about 3:00 a.m. the same day, Tuy Phuoc Traffic Police Station coordinated with Tuy Phuoc Commune Police and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai Province to inspect a truck with license plate 36H-044.36 driven by driver Bui Van Mai (born in 1979, residing in Thanh Hoa Province).

The vehicle was carrying 54 pigs, many of which showed signs of lethargy, weakness, skin hemorrhage, diarrhea, typical symptoms of African swine fever. The driver could not present an animal quarantine certificate.
Currently, the authorities are temporarily detaining the vehicle and the evidence. If the test results confirm that the pigs are infected, all pigs will be destroyed to prevent the spread of the epidemic and environmental pollution.
People transporting and trading infected pigs will be strictly handled according to the law.
