Nghe An - On the morning of July 23, in some mountainous communes of Nghe An, the rain had stopped and the flood water was receding rapidly.

According to people in Huu Kiem and Muong Xen communes, compared to the peak flooding level on the night of July 22, by this morning the water had receded nearly 1m, the receding speed was quite fast.

Currently, on National Highway 7, many locations have receded from the road surface, and people have been crossing the road. The rain has also stopped.

Previously, on the night of July 22 and early morning of July 23, the authorities of Huu Kiem commune used a boat to transport many people to evacuate to a safe place.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh (20 years old, residing in Huu Kiem commune) said that at nearly 12:00 at night, local authorities used a boat to carry his family to the agency of the Forest Protection Team. At that time, the water had flooded his house nearly 1m.

"All night, the rescue forces were busy carrying people to evacuate to safety. Luckily, they came to help our family not know where to take shelter for safety".

According to the announcement of Nghe An province, at 9:00 p.m. on July 22, the upstream water flow to Ban Ve hydropower plant reached 9,543 m3/s, nearly reaching the peak flood flow of 10,500 m3/s.

At that time, Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir was releasing water at 1,727m3/s and was informed that it would increase discharge, so it was recommended that the authorities and local authorities in the downstream area urgently evacuate people and property to a safe place.
