Faced with unusual weather developments and a high risk of storms, floods, and landslides during the 2025 storm season, on July 9, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan directed departments, branches, and localities to strengthen the work of preventing, responding to, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the spirit of not being passive or surprised.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan emphasized that the monitoring and direction of natural disaster prevention must be carried out regularly and continuously, without interruption by the process of restructuring the apparatus and implementing the two-level government. The goal of ensuring absolute safety for people's lives and limiting property damage is given top priority.

The provincial chairman requested departments, branches, and commune-level authorities to absolutely not be subjective or negligent; must proactively develop response plans according to the "four on-site" motto, clearly identifying possible natural disaster situations in the area, especially storms, flash floods, and landslides. The review and completion of the response plan must be completed before July 30.
"Do not let any human damage occur, minimize risks and property damage. Strictly handle the responsibility of collectives and individuals, especially leaders who are subjective and irresponsible in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and providing rescue," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan emphasized.
He also assigned the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards to urgently inspect high-risk areas such as riverside, streams, steep hillsides, densely populated residential areas, schools, agency headquarters, etc. to promptly detect vulnerable points and make plans to evacuate people to safe places when necessary. For areas that have been warned of danger but cannot be relocated immediately, the local government must prepare emergency response and evacuation scenarios.
In addition, the Provincial Chairman also requested localities to proactively allocate budgets to implement disaster prevention and overcoming, in the spirit of "Absolutely not letting people lack housing, hunger, or essential items". At the same time, prevent the risk of disease outbreaks and environmental pollution after floods, not to seriously affect students' learning.
Inspect the stockpiling of materials, means, and essential goods for natural disaster prevention. In particular, food and provisions must be stored in areas that are easily cut off and isolated during heavy rains and floods.
Establish and complete the Commune-level Disaster Prevention and Control Shock Team, assign specific tasks to each member, to be completed before July 30.
For projects under construction, especially dams, bridges, and embankments, the Provincial Chairman requested the Provincial Project Management Boards to direct contractors to speed up the progress and develop plans to ensure safety when there is a flood. The service roads that obstruct the flow must be completely dismantled before September 30.
