On August 2, the Department of Construction of Gia Lai province held an urgent meeting to discuss solutions to rectify and tighten management of tourist electric vehicle activities, after the accident that killed 3 people at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square on the evening of August 1.
According to the representative of the Traffic Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police, the initial investigation results showed that the cause of the accident was due to the driver not paying attention, while the pedestrian crossed the road in the correct line.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dinh Diem - Captain of the Road Traffic Police Team (Gia Lai Provincial Police Traffic Police Department) - affirmed that he would strictly handle the person who caused the accident, and at the same time request the enterprise to be responsible for compensating the victim's family.
Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dinh Diem said that on August 2, the traffic police force launched a campaign to inspect all electric vehicles in operation, work directly with businesses and requested to sign a commitment to strictly comply with legal regulations, ensuring safety for people and tourists.

Currently, Gia Lai province has 3 enterprises registered to operate electric vehicles with a total of 112 units. In the past, the authorities have repeatedly handled violations such as picking up and dropping off passengers in violation of regulations, stopping and parking in the wrong place, not installing journey monitoring equipment...
At the meeting, Mr. Ho Thanh Khiet - Director of Thai Binh Real Estate Construction Investment Company Limited (Quy Nhon branch) - said that the unit had 25 vehicles, of which 10 vehicles had not completed the procedures to convert the yellow license plate according to regulations.

Mr. Khiet pledged to thoroughly grasp the regulations for drivers and ensure safety in operation, although he said that the regulation of placing signs limiting the speed of 30km/h on some tourist routes is making business operations difficult.
Mr. Bui Dinh Thong - Director of Sun Taxi Gia Lai Joint Stock Company Branch - requested departments and branches to support removing obstacles so that electric vehicles can continue to serve tourism safely and in accordance with the law.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Truong Son - Director of the Department of Construction of Gia Lai province - directed the temporary suspension of tourism electric vehicles in the area from August 3 for review.
"The suspension is a necessary measure to rectify the operation of electric vehicles in a disciplined manner, while deterring and preventing future violations," Mr. Son emphasized.

The Director of the Department of Construction of Gia Lai province said that the relevant agencies will review all operating conditions of each vehicle and driver. Only qualified vehicles are allowed to operate again on Xuan Dieu Street, from 4:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day. At the same time, the Department will advise on appropriate and harmonious management solutions between tourism development and ensuring safety for people.
As Lao Dong reported, at around 8:45 p.m. on August 1, a 4-wheel red electric tourist car with license plate 77HC-001.13, with the City Tour Quy Nhon logo (driver's identity unknown) was traveling through Nguyen Tat Thanh Square.
When arriving at the pedestrian crossing, the car suddenly hit a group of people crossing the road, killing one person and injuring two others.
