On December 2, the Executive Committee of the 14th Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025, held its 34th conference.
According to the report of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, in 2024, the estimated economic growth rate will reach 7%. The average GRDP per capita will reach 69.1 million VND/person/year.
The poverty rate is estimated to decrease by an average of 1%, including a 2% reduction in the Khmer poverty rate. The province has created jobs for 32,180 workers, of whom 544 have gone to work abroad under contract.
Rice output reached over 2.18 million tons, up nearly 5.2% over the same period. Total aquatic product output was 390,000 tons, up more than 1.2% over the same period.
Industrial production continued to maintain a good growth rate. The industrial production index is estimated to increase by 5.5% (negative 4.88% over the same period). Export value reached 1.8 billion USD, up nearly 20%. Import value is estimated at 200 million USD. The whole province welcomed 3.12 million visitors, with total revenue estimated at about 1,858 billion VND, up 20% over the same period in 2023.
By the end of October 2024, the 2024 capital plan assigned by the Prime Minister had disbursed 53.4% of the plan. The estimated disbursement rate by the end of the term is over 95% of the capital assigned by the Central Government.
Besides the positive aspects, there are still some limitations such as the projects calling for investment still encounter many difficulties and obstacles. The business development situation has positive signals but is not stable, on average, for every 100 businesses entering the market, 53 businesses withdraw from the market.
Crimes against social order have not been significantly reduced (694 cases, an increase of 48 cases over the same period); traffic accidents increased in both the number of cases and the number of injuries (259 traffic accidents/109 deaths, 222 injuries, an increase of 87 cases over the same period in 2023).
Speaking at the conference, Secretary of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee Lam Van Man proposed to complete the 25 targets of the Resolution 2025; Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025 with the spirit of "dare to think, dare to do, dare to break through for the common good", determined to achieve success, creating a spreading influence throughout the Party Committee and people in the province.
The leaders of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee requested Party committees and organizations at all levels to be resolute in leadership and direction. The top priority is to strongly promote investment attraction, restructure the economy and quickly overcome existing problems (cumbersome administrative procedures, slow capital disbursement, difficult site clearance, lack of filling materials). Support businesses to overcome difficulties, restructure production and create a favorable business environment.
It is necessary to strengthen the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity, step up inspection and examination, focusing on areas prone to corruption and negativity such as investment, public assets, land, minerals, etc. Accelerating the disbursement progress of public investment capital must be associated with ensuring the quality of works and projects, avoiding negativity, loss, and waste.
