Reducing the burden of train and bus tickets during Tet

Hà Lê |

Every time Tet comes, traffic congestion and lack of means of transportation are always a burning issue, especially in large cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

With millions of people traveling from provinces to the capital or other areas, the transportation industry faces great pressure due to the high number of passengers. However, careful preparation from authorities and transportation businesses this year promises to reduce this situation, creating favorable conditions for people during the Lunar New Year 2026.

One of the notable points in the preparation work is that transportation businesses do not leave shortages of vehicles during peak season.

According to the request of the Hanoi Department of Construction, transportation enterprises such as buses, taxis, inter-provincial vehicles and tourism must ensure adequate supply of vehicles, while increasing reserve vehicles to promptly resolve the shortage of vehicles. This not only helps reduce the load on routes, but also creates flexibility in meeting the needs of passengers when the number of passengers increases dramatically.

An equally important thing is that transportation businesses must commit not to increase ticket prices illegally during Tet, helping to protect people's rights, avoiding the situation of "ripping off" ticket prices like in previous years. The early ticket sales system, transparent disclosure of travel information and ticket prices are also a necessary step to reduce the chaos in finding tickets and traveling.

In addition to increasing vehicles, traffic safety issues during Tet are also given special attention. Bus routes connecting bus stations and train stations will be strengthened, with coordination between the Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center and transport units. Vehicles must ensure technical safety, be fully equipped with fire fighting, and check their driving licenses and movements before leaving the port to avoid shortages.

In particular, the authorities will closely monitor compliance with traffic safety regulations, strictly handle violations such as overloading, unqualified driving, or stopping to pick up and drop off passengers in violation of regulations. The areas around bus stations and train stations will be reasonably divided to reduce congestion and protect urban aesthetics, a very important factor in creating a civilized and modern image for the capital.

The good news is that after more than 3 months of opening ticket sales for the 2026 Lunar New Year (from September 20), a total of 140,000 train tickets for the Lunar New Year have been sold, reaching 62% of the total number of tickets sold for the same period of the 2025 Lunar New Year. Of the train tickets sold, the online ticket sales channel (website: dsvn.vn, vetau.com.vn, vetauonline.vn...) accounts for 67%, the rest are sold at the station ticket store.

Previously, the Railway industry announced a plan to serve the transportation of the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo in 2026, starting from February 3 to March 8, 2026 (ie December 16, At Ty year to January 20, Binh Ngo year), with 55 trains, a total of 800 carriages, providing about 335,000 tickets for passengers to travel smoothly.

Early preparation from the transport unit as well as passengers shows proactiveness so that each ticket is no longer a nightmare, a burden for every citizen, especially workers far from home.
