Unleashing the potential of western Gia Lai
Affirming the potential of the western area of Gia Lai, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized: "The communes, wards - the western area of Gia Lai province are potential, fertile, and fertile lands; people cannot be left poor."
Provincial leaders require communes to focus on accessing policy capital, building effective production models for people to learn and start businesses. The biggest bottleneck at present is the broken production organization, products not linked to processing and the market, causing the value of agricultural products to not increase. Therefore, each locality must develop a development plan based on the space of regional linkages, effectively mobilizing resources from the Central to the province and the grassroots.
In recent years, the infrastructure and lives of people in the mountainous areas of Gia Lai have improved significantly. The system of paved concrete and asphalt roads has reached coffee plantations, facilitating production and trade.
Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2025, Ia Phi commune identified the core task as "catching the disease correctly" of the poor. The locality has synchronously implemented many solutions: Vocational training, raising awareness, supporting breeding cows, enhancing solidarity between villages and authorities.
At the end of November 2025, 86 quality breeding cows were provided to people in 4 extremely disadvantaged villages. The public drawing helps ensure transparency and fairness. According to Mr. Pham Ba Nam - Head of the Department of Culture - Social Affairs of Ia Phi commune, the propaganda of changing the way of thinking, opening electricity classes, and growing crops every year has contributed to creating jobs and promoting the labor movement.
In the areas of Ia Phi, Ia Khuol, Chu Pah, Ia Ly, which are durian and coffee growing areas, the government is oriented to build sustainable production areas, towards clean and exported agriculture. However, this requires a long time and technical support for the people.
livelihoods and vocational training, a sustainable escape from poverty
In the border commune of Ia Mo, vocational training is considered a key task. Lxes for cultivation, animal husbandry, and agricultural machinery repair have been opened to meet the actual needs of people who are attached to crop production and forest protection under the form of contracts.
Ia Mo sets a target of no more poor households by 2030, with an average income of over 40 million VND/person/year; food output of 12,000 tons; total livestock and poultry herd increases steadily; the rate of trained workers reaches 50%.
The Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Gia Lai province have long identified vocational training as a key factor in improving the quality of rural human resources, especially for ethnic minorities. The province aims to attract more than 3,000 workers to participate in vocational training annually, contributing to increasing the rate of workers with degrees and certificates to 25% by 2030.
This solution not only creates stable jobs and increases income but also helps build new rural areas and sustainably reduce poverty.
The People's Committee of Gia Lai province requires localities to accelerate poverty reduction progress, striving to reduce the poverty rate to 2.24% by the end of 2025, equivalent to more than 9,400 households escaping poverty.
Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep said: the main causes of poverty are lack of land for production, lack of labor, lack of capital, and limitations in knowledge and vocational skills. Therefore, the province requires strengthening propaganda and expanding vocational training to "open a sustainable escape from poverty" for people in rural and mountainous areas.
