On September 9, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was present at the Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) - Bung (Quang Tri) expressway and recorded that a sign prohibiting trucks with a capacity of 10 tons or more from entering this expressway at the intersection with National Highway 12C (in Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province) had been dismantled.
Through observation, with the removal of this prohibition sign, heavy trucks and container trucks have continuously passed through on the Vung Ang - Bung expressway.
It is noted that drivers are very excited and happy when there is no longer a ban on trucks over 10 tons traveling on this expressway.
On the afternoon of September 9, a leader of Road Management Area 2 said that the new Vung Ang - Bung expressway section was temporarily opened to traffic according to the decision of the Vietnam Road Management Department, but the project investor had not yet handed over to Road Management Area 2.
However, according to this leader, with the fact that the expressways at both ends do not ban trucks over 10 tons but the Vung Ang - Bung expressway section ban trucks over 10 tons is inadequate and unreasonable, causing inconvenience to drivers.
The leader of Road Management Area 2 also informed that the investor's arbitrary placement of a sign prohibiting trucks over 10 tons from circulating on the Vung Ang - Bung expressway is unfounded.
According to regulations, to ban, it is necessary to ask for permission from the agency that issued the investment decision for the project (in this project, the Ministry of Construction) but because it has not been approved by the Ministry, the Investor Board of this expressway project has currently removed the ban sign for trucks over 10 tons.
This person also shared that it is possible that when the investor requests permission and the Ministry of Construction agrees, the sign prohibiting trucks over 10 tons from traveling on this expressway will be re-populated.
As Lao Dong has reported, the Vung Ang - Bung expressway component project has been open to traffic since August 28, 2025. However, since the opening of the project, the project investor has placed a sign prohibiting trucks over 10 tons from traveling on this expressway.
The reason for banning trucks over 10 tons is that the Project Management Board (Project Management Board 6 - Ministry of Transport) said that because this expressway has just been completed and is being temporarily put into operation, while the route's terrain conditions are difficult and complicated. Letting heavy trucks travel on the route can lead to traffic insecurity.
At both ends of the route, the management board has installed warning signs, requiring drivers who do not drive heavy trucks to enter, the ban is expected to last about a month.

With the ban on trucks over 10 tons traveling on this expressway, many drivers are upset, because of the inconvenience, the additional cost of gasoline and oil, taking more time, and at the same time, the additional cost of passing through the BOT station on National Highway 1 located in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province.
The Vung Ang - Bung expressway project is 55.34km long, of which the section through Ha Tinh is 12.9km long, the section through Quang Tri is 42.44km long, and was started in January 2023 with a total investment of VND 12,548 billion. The route starts at Ky Hoa commune (Ha Tinh), ends at Bo Trach commune (Quang Tri), connecting with the Bung - Van Ninh expressway project.
The exploitation of this expressway contributes to shortening the journey from Hanoi to Quang Tri, facilitating trade in the North Central region, promoting the socio-economic development of the region.
