After storm No. 5, the coast in Tan Ninh Chau and Hoi Tien villages was deeply eroded, approaching Hoi Thong dike, creating many open frog's jaw locations, threatening to continue to erode in the coming time, when it is the rainy and stormy season.
Many large casuarina trees along the coast here were also uprooted, fallen, and fell by waves.

It is worth mentioning that there is a 1.4km long breakwater project in front of this coast with a total investment of 15 billion VND to be completed in mid-2024, but it is the gaps between the embankments that have "paved the way" for waves to hit the shore, causing landslides.
Before the storm, the Dan Hai commune government mobilized hundreds of people to use 600m3 of boulders and 200m3 of reinforced and anti-landslide land.
The increasingly deep coastal erosion has threatened the Hoi Thong dike, threatening a residential area with more than 600 households, making many people worried and insecure.

According to Mr. Tran Quynh Thao - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Hai commune, the landslide situation threatens to destroy the protective mangrove forest and affect the inner dike.
Mr. Thao also said that it is the open sections in the breakwater that cause strong waves to hit deep inland, causing coastal erosion.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Hai commune shared that through understanding, it is known that this wave-breaking embankment design in the early stages caused landslides through open gates, but about 5 to 6 years later, the silting will be completed. At that time, there will be no more landslides.
However, worryingly, the waiting process for the breakwater to be effective is still facing landslides, causing the locality to worry about reinforcing.
