In the first quarter of 2025 (from December 15, 2024 to March 14, 2025), there were 351 fires in Hanoi, killing 4 people and injuring 4 others; initial property damage is estimated at about 12.2 billion VND. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of fires increased by 53 cases, the number of deaths decreased by 2 people, the number of injuries increased by 1 person, and property damage increased by about 7.9 billion VND.
The number of fires in private houses and houses combined with business still accounts for a high proportion, with 173/351 cases; the fire area is mainly concentrated in districts, with 186/351 cases. The main cause of the fire was due to system and equipment failures, accounting for 251/351 cases.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force promptly mobilized 2,163 vehicles and 12,648 officers and soldiers to handle the incidents, including rescuing and successfully guiding the escape of 86 people trapped in the fire.
Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Tuan Anh - Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) - highly appreciated the fire prevention and rescue work of the city. At the same time, he suggested that Hanoi urgently and drastically implement the "Project to improve capacity and ensure fire prevention and fighting and rescue safety in the capital until 2025, with a vision to 2030", focusing on investing in fire-fighting water supply systems in residential areas that do not ensure traffic conditions and fire-fighting water sources.
According to statistics, through review, the whole city currently has 69,712 facilities that must implement solutions to strengthen fire prevention and fighting according to Directive No. 19/CT-TTg dated June 24, 2024 of the Prime Minister "On strengthening fire prevention and fighting for multi-storey houses, multi-apartment houses and individual houses combined with production and business". Including: 412 multi-apartment houses, 39,993 boarding houses and 29,307 houses combined with production and business.
The functional units have organized inspections, urged, guided, propagated, recommended, reviewed and requested 100% of establishments to sign a commitment to implement fire prevention and fighting enhancement solutions; at the same time, 4,011 cases were fined with an amount of over 14.7 billion VND; 815 cases were temporarily suspended and suspended. Up to now, 24,579 facilities have completed the repair of fire safety solutions according to technical guidance documents.
Major General Duong Duc Hai - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police - said that from April 15 to June 30, 2025, Hanoi City Police will launch a peak period of propaganda, guidance, and urging 100% of business owners and household owners to implement solutions to ensure fire safety.
Accordingly, types of multi-apartment houses, rental houses, individual houses combined with production and business that do not meet fire safety requirements must be immediately remedied. Facilities at high risk of fire and explosion causing serious human damage (there are residents, overnight residents and at the same time, there are still violations of escape, fire prevention, and fire alarm systems) must also complete the repair according to the instructions.
