After many days and nights of continuous construction, the Hang Da market underground tank project has been completed. This is one of the emergency flood prevention projects expected to be completed before May 30.
On May 19, representatives of the Hanoi Department of Construction said that before May 30, a series of emergency flood prevention projects implemented by units directly under the department will be completed and all barriers will be dismantled, minimizing the impact on people's lives.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung - Director of Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center (Hanoi Department of Construction), from March 25 to now, the Center and contractors have simultaneously implemented many projects according to the construction permit of Hanoi Department of Construction.
Although the implementation time according to the contract is 5 months, the contractors have mobilized maximum manpower, machinery, and equipment to accelerate the construction progress of 22 items. Including renovating pumping stations at 6 lakes such as Thien Quang, Bay Mau, Ba Mau, Linh Quang, Van Chuong, Trung Tu and handling 16 flooding points in inner city streets such as Ly Thai To, Phan Chu Trinh, Le Lai, Quang Trung, Quan Su, Nguyen Trai.
In order to limit the impact on traffic and people's lives, the units mainly construct at night, from 10 pm the previous day to 5 am the next morning.
According to a representative of the Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center, the construction process encountered many difficulties due to the ground having a complex existing underground and above-ground system such as electricity, water supply, communications... requiring coordination in handling and relocation.
Due to the cramped site, all supplies, equipment and manpower must be fully calculated for each night construction shift, there is no position for material and component gathering in front of the culvert.
After each construction shift, units must transport all excess materials and waste materials to restore the ground. Before 7 am every day, sanitation and road washing work must be completed to ensure normal traffic for people.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung said that the unit is regularly urging contractors to mobilize maximum manpower and equipment to remove difficulties, accelerate progress and remove all barriers before May 30.
On May 16, units dismantled 3 barricades on Trang Thi, Phan Chu Trinh and Ly Thai To streets.
It is expected that on May 25, the remaining 10 barricades will continue to be dismantled on Ly Thuong Kiet, Quan Su, Quang Trung, Le Lai, Nguyen Trai, Hai Ba Trung, Trang Tien, Tong Dan streets, the area of the Opera House Square and Thong Nhat Park.
As for the remaining 4 large manholes, due to manual construction, it is expected to be completed and barriers removed before May 30.
On the night of May 18, the Hang Da market underground tank project was completed after many months of construction. The project has a capacity of 2,500m3, reinforced concrete structure, accompanied by a regulating pumping station with a capacity of 0.09m3/s per pump, along with a connection culvert system, regulating vents and other auxiliary items.
The project has a total investment of about 18.2 billion VND and is one of the two underground tanks approved by Hanoi belonging to the emergency flood prevention project group.
