With the determination to rectify the situation of motorbikes going onto the sidewalk, Hanoi City will step up handling of violations with high fines, especially through images recorded from a specialized camera system. Recorded at the working group of the Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 on Ho Tung Mau Street (Cau Giay District, Hanoi), despite reviewing the image of the violation, some people still did not admit to the violation.

However, in the face of specific recorded evidence, many cases, even if not initially admitted, were forced to comply with the signing of the penalty notice. This shows that the handling of violations by images has contributed to increased transparency, improved the effectiveness of propaganda and education for people to strictly comply with the Traffic Law.
A representative of Road Traffic Police Team No. 6, Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police said that handling violations through images not only helps to record behavior objectively and clearly but also minimizes controversy between authorities and people. More importantly, this approach is effective in deterring and preventing recidivism.
According to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Tien Dat (Road Traffic Police Team No. 6), the handling of violations focuses mainly on peak hours, thereby making people's compliance awareness have had many positive changes. For cases of intentional non-compliance, the authorities will strictly handle them according to regulations.
Statistics from the Traffic Police Department - Hanoi City Police show that in June 2025, the authorities handled nearly 2,000 violations such as running red lights, going in the wrong direction, driving motorbikes onto the sidewalk. In addition to direct fines, nearly 500 fines have also been sent to owners of violating vehicles.
Cameras are just tools, but the greatest effect is to change behavior. When all violations can be recorded and handled, there will be no room for quanhcation or avoidance.
The leader of Hanoi City Police said that from now until the end of the year, the city will continue to install about 5,000 additional surveillance cameras throughout the area to strengthen traffic management and promptly handle violations, even without the presence of authorities on the route.
