Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang has just signed a decision approving the master plan of Hanoi Capital with a 100-year vision.
The plan clearly states that the city will build synchronously and completely closed and put into operation the entire Ring Road 4, 4, 5, 5. Implement renovation and expansion of the cross-section for radial axes (Thang Long Highway, Tay Thang Long, National Highway 1A, 6, 32, 21, Ha Dong - Xuan Mai road axis, Southern Economic road axis,... ), network of ring roads, inter-commune roads, inter-ward roads, according to network structure, chessboard boxes. The scale of width and number of lanes of roads ensure compliance with standards.
Focus on investing in new construction of bridges across the Red River (Tu Lien, Tran Hung Dao, Ngoc Hoi, Me So, Hong Ha bridges,...), renovating and expanding Chuong Duong bridge... and bridges across the Duong and Da rivers, clearing tunnel and bridge connections through remote and isolated communes (Minh Chau island commune, Khanh Thuong - Ba Vi,...). In which, priority is given to multi-layered river tunnel solutions (combining roads and railways) to save land for site clearance and landscape protection.
Supplementing planning of roads, bridges/tunnels connecting 5 provinces bordering Hanoi.
For areas with limited site clearance, apply solutions to improve the multi-layer traffic space utilization coefficient. Synchronously design surface roads, elevated roads and mechanical tunnel systems at major intersections to maximize traffic volume on the same route surface.
Building national multimodal passenger transit centers in the Noi Bai International Airport area and the 2nd Airport area.
Hanoi will build a new inter-provincial passenger bus station system combined with a network of urban railways, multimodal transit parking lots, and bus stations to form multimodal passenger transit centers suitable for the process of urban expansion and development. Gradually convert functions and relocate bus stations in Ring Road 3 area.
Arrange reasonable land funds (including underground spaces) to build parking spots and parking lots suitable to the needs of each area, associated with service works, public transport, green parks, and beltways.
Building truck stations associated with logistics centers, large industrial parks and clusters.
Construction, expansion, upgrading, and renovation planning with 9 dynamic axes to ensure the scale and class of urban roads, at least 6 main lanes (such as National Highway 1A axis (section from Ring Road 1 - Kim Lien tunnel to Gie bridge) being expanded with a width of 90m), will continue to be specifically identified in the next implementation process to meet the requirements for connection, nature, and dynamic function of the route and will be implemented according to a separate project.
