According to the reflection of many households in Tay Son street (Truong Son ward, Sam Son city, Thanh Hoa province), for many years they have been living in a situation of "unable to leave, unable to stay" due to the Tay Son road expansion project.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Xanh (55 years old, residing on Tay Son street) said that the project to expand Tay Son street (from Sam Son City People's Court to Ly Tu Trong street) has been around for 30 years.
“Because it is part of the project, households are not allowed to build new, renovate, or transfer houses and land. Therefore, for a long time, about 40 households in the neighborhood have had to live in cramped, moldy, and seriously degraded houses,” said Mr. Xanh.
According to Mr. Xanh, Sam Son City has come many times to inventory and measure for implementation, but so far, the project is still "inactive". The residents' wish is that the city will soon implement the project, if not, there will be a decision to revoke it so that people can build, renovate or transfer their houses.
Sharing the same situation as Mr. Xanh's family, Mr. Duong Quoc Hung (50 years old, living at number 31, Tay Son street) said that for many years, his whole family had to live in a dilapidated, cramped level 4 house, unable to renovate it even if they wanted to.
“The dilapidated house was built decades ago. It is now dilapidated, the walls are peeling, and it is very moldy. However, it is part of a road expansion project so it cannot be rebuilt or renovated,” Mr. Hung shared.
According to many households living along Tay Son Street, they have petitioned many times at meetings and met with voters about this issue, however, the matter has not been resolved yet.
Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Viet Kieu - Chairman of Truong Son Ward People's Committee, Sam Son City, Thanh Hoa Province - said that regarding the people's complaints about the slow implementation of the Tay Son road expansion project, the ward has repeatedly proposed to Sam Son City People's Committee.
“This project has been proposed for many years, but it was only started and became feasible in the last few years. The current difficulty is due to capital, because the amount of money needed to implement it is very large, mainly land clearance money,” said Mr. Kieu.
Also according to the representative of Truong Son ward leader, today (November 14), the leader of Sam Son City People's Committee will have a meeting with households to listen to opinions and propose solutions.
