Lam Dong - Heavy rain caused a sudden flash flood in Da Huoai 3 commune, causing the properties of dozens of households to be swept away, houses and roads to be severely damaged.

On the morning of August 13, Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Huoai 3 commune, said that the military forces, police, militia, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and local youth are still trying to support people to overcome the consequences of the flash flood caused in the early morning of the same day.

The scene shows that the flash flood caused great damage to people's property and crops. Fortunately, the flash flood did not cause any human casualties.

Previously, on the night of August 12, in Da Huoai 3 commune, especially in the Da Ban mountain forest area and Ta Pon pass, heavy rain occurred for many hours. At about 2:15 a.m. on August 13, while people were sleeping, water from upstream poured in, causing a sudden flash flood, leaving dozens of households unable to react.

Many households whose houses along Da Ban stream, Da Huoai river and Provincial Road 713 in villages 1, 7 and 8 (Da Huoai 3 commune) were flooded into their houses. On Provincial Road 713 and some residential roads in the 3 villages, the flood water rose more than 1 m.

The flood came so suddenly that people did not have time to react, causing many properties, household items, agricultural tools, and agricultural machinery of the people to be swept away and gone missing, causing heavy damage. In particular, some houses in Village 8 were cracked by floodwaters and had their walls collapsed, causing mud to flood into their houses.

In Village 1, heavy rain and flash floods caused a durian hill to tear up, creating a deep ditch, mud and soil flowing into the houses of 3 households at the foot of the hill. The risk of landslides on this hill is very high, posing a great danger to households. Currently, Da Huoai 3 commune is surveying to relocate 3 households to a safe place.

Along with that, flash floods have caused more than 100 m of road on Provincial Road 713 and some inter-village roads to be eroded, eroded, and seriously damaged. The flash flood also caused at least 2 suspension bridges for people to be swept away by water.

Immediately after the flash flood, Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Huoai 3 commune and local leaders were present in time to mobilize forces to support people to overcome the consequences.

After receiving the report, the commune mobilized nearly 300 people from many forces such as cadres, civil servants, public employees, police, militia, and youth to support people to overcome the consequences of the flash flood. There are also more than 20 officers and soldiers of the 37th Engineering Battalion (Military Region 7) stationed in the area who have promptly coordinated to support the people.

Forces focused on supporting people to clean up their houses, search for assets and agricultural machinery swept away by floodwaters; at the same time, survey and inspect areas at risk of landslides to promptly deploy preventive measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property" - Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Huoai 3 commune Nguyen Van Trinh said.

Along with supporting people to overcome the consequences, Da Huoai 3 commune is focusing on collecting statistics on the damage caused by the flash flood to promptly have a support plan for people to soon stabilize their lives.
