On March 4, Mr. Huynh Uy Vien - Chairman of Cam Lam Commune People's Committee - said that the Bai Dai area managed by the commune no longer has the phenomenon of herring drifting ashore and then stranding.
According to Mr. Vien, all the previously stranded herring had been collected and handled promptly by functional forces in coordination with people.
The incident did not affect the environment or tourism activities in the area.
Previously, on the morning of March 3, Mr. Le Thanh Hoan (resident of Cam Lam commune) while walking at the beach discovered a large amount of live fish scattered on the Bai Dai sandbar area.
According to initial estimates by people, the amount of fish drifting ashore is about 400-500kg, equivalent to thousands of fish.
Seeing seafood stranded, many people and tourists picked it up to process. Immediately after grasping the information, the functional forces of Cam Lam commune inspected the reality and determined that this was a natural phenomenon.
According to local explanations, during the breeding season, herring often swims close to the shore to lay eggs. When encountering big waves, the school of fish can be swept onto the sand and get stranded.
In previous years, this area also recorded the phenomenon of anchovies appearing near the shore during breeding.
The above phenomenon is not an abnormal sign of the marine environment. Up to now, the situation has stabilized, the beach has returned to normal, ensuring safety for people and tourists.
