Van Phu Bridge construction began in 2002 and was completed in 2004. The project has a total length of 474.96m; a total width of 10m; a permanent bridge of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete; and a total investment of 50 billion VND.
According to Lao Dong's report on December 20, after storm No. 3, the Van Phu bridge deck is under repair.
At the construction site, workers and dozens of machines and materials are gathered to construct, soon completing the project on schedule.
Ms. Dao Thi Hoa (29 years old, Yen Ninh, Yen Bai city) said that because the bridge is located on the main road leading from Yen Bai city to the IC 12 intersection of Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, the number of vehicles passing through here is very high, leading to some sections of the bridge surface deteriorating.
"I hope the bridge will be completed soon so that people's travel will be less difficult," said Ms. Hoa.
Previously, the Department of Transport of Yen Bai province announced a traffic diversion plan for Van Phu bridge located on Au Co street, Yen Bai city.
Traffic diversion will begin from 0:00 on November 1 to December 29 to repair roadbed and surface items and inspect and maintain bridge piers affected by floods.
It is known that the Van Phu bridge renovation item is part of the Van Phu bridge, Mau A bridge, Rao bridge and Gua bridge construction project, with the joint venture of 68 Mechanical Engineering Joint Stock Company and Thang Long Construction - Yen Bai Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company as the contractor, with a total investment of nearly 10 billion VND.
According to the representative of the construction unit, currently the workers are focusing on arranging the workforce to ensure 3 shifts per day with about 7 workers to ensure completion on schedule as committed to the Department of Transport of Yen Bai province.
It is expected to be completed before December 28, then it will be handed over to the road construction unit, expected to be completed by December 29 and then Van Phu bridge will be open to normal traffic.
According to the representative of the construction unit, the unfinished items include 2 transitional slabs at both ends, 2 top walls of the wing walls at both ends of the bridge abutments and the bridge deck of span L1, and jacking up the beams to replace the bearings of span 1 and span 9.
After the bridge is opened, the unit will continue to construct a number of other related items such as signs, road markings, reinforcing fiber for box girders, installing an inspection ladder system and repairing a number of horizontal beam positions and pillars.
Expected handover of all items before January 25, 2025.
