In recent weeks, when the flood season comes, the water level of the Red River rises, the image of the vast river, the muddy water carrying mud and silt appears completely different from the months when the river is dry at the bottom of the year.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in late August, on the Red River passing through Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces, floods from upstream and from the sidewalks caused the river water level to rise, the flood water covered the sand dunes and alluvial plains on the river.
When the Red River flood brought a lot of fertile alluvium to the riverside areas, the irrigation system pumped and irrigated water works effectively, waterway vehicles can move more easily than before.

According to Mr. Tran Van Ton - owner of Tinh Cuong ferry terminal on the Red River (connecting Chi Tien commune with Hung Viet commune, Phu Tho province), the current high river water level is a good condition for ferries and boats to move easily.

"During the dry season, due to the narrowing riverbed, we have to reinforce the wharf continuously to be able to pick up and drop off passengers, and there are many sandy islands on the river, so boats/fishing boats have to choose to go around, which takes time and money. But now the water has risen, just pick up the passengers and go straight to the other side, much faster" - Mr. Ton shared.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting's Short-term Hydro-Meteorological Forecast and Warning bulletin on August 25, on the Thao River, the water level at Yen Bai station and Phu Tho station will change slowly with an upward trend.
