Of the total 250 works and projects inaugurated and started construction simultaneously across the country this morning, Hanoi has 9 projects, accounting for about 4% in quantity but contributing nearly 20% of the total national investment capital, affirming its position as a locomotive for development, the economic and political center of the country.
The groundbreaking ceremony for Ngoc Hoi Bridge is one of the 7 large bridges across the Red River expected to be implemented in 2025. According to Mr. Ngo Ngoc Van - Director of the Hanoi Traffic Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a total length of about 7.5km.
The part in Hanoi is about 5.2km long; of which, the main bridge is about 680m long (350m long the main cable-stayed span, 126m high the tower). The part in Hung Yen province is about 2.3km long (including the approach road to the bridge and parallel roads on both sides). The bridge is 38m wide, including 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for mixed vehicles. The total investment of the project is about 11,844 billion VND, from the Hanoi City budget and the Central budget. The completion time is expected in 2028.
The project is expected to directly connect Hanoi with Hung Yen province, creating momentum to complete the Ring Road 3.5, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and developing urban space along both sides of the Red River.
The construction of Ngoc Hoi Bridge aims to complete the Ring Road 3.5 connecting directly to Hung Yen; at the same time, combine with the Hanoi City's radial road system to share and allocate traffic volume, reduce the risk of congestion on regional routes; gradually complete the Hanoi transport planning in particular and the capital planning in general; ensure security - national defense and develop modern urban space along both sides of the Red River.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh - Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee said: "According to the general plan, Hanoi will have 19 road bridges across the Red River by 2045. Ngoc Hoi Bridge is one of the important projects, helping the capital achieve the growth target of over 8% in 2025 and move towards double digits in the following years".
The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested investors and units participating in the project to enhance their determination and responsibility, focus maximum resources and materials, construct urgently and scientifically, ensure technical, quality, safety, and progress, contributing to realizing the sustainable development goals of the capital.
Also on the morning of August 19, in Phuc Loc commune, Hanoi, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Van Phuc bridge investment project across the Red River and the road connecting to National Highway 32.
The Van Phuc bridge project starts at Km0+ back, intersecting with National Highway2; the end point is at Km7+773, connecting with the traffic route from the Red River dike to Van Phuc bridge (Phu Tho province). The route is 7.77km long, designed according to the standards of a grade III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h. The total investment of the project is 3,443 billion VND.
The project belongs to the group of level I projects. The goal is to complete the traffic infrastructure system according to the plan, creating an axis connecting the invested routes, while creating a premise to promote socio-economic development in the neighboring province (Phu Tho province) and in the capital region.
When completed, Van Phuc Bridge and the road connecting to National Highway 32 will create an important trade and tourism corridor. People's agricultural products and goods will have easy access to major markets at the Northwest gateway of the capital.
