Ho Chi Minh City - Song Ray Lake with a designed capacity of 215 million m3 announced to release floodwaters in the second phase in 10 days from November 6, with a flow rate of 27.85 - 137.91 m3/s.

On November 5, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Irrigation Works Management and Exploitation Center (HCMC Department of Agriculture and Environment) issued a document announcing the second phase of the release of floodwaters from the Ray River reservoir.

The reason is that as of the morning of November 3, the water level of Song Ray Lake is at 71.88/75m, with a capacity of more than 196 million m3, so it is necessary to discharge floodwater to ensure the safety of the project and the downstream area.

The expected flood discharge time is from 8:00 a.m. on November 6 to 8:00 a.m. on November 8; the discharge flow is about 27.85 - 137.91 m3/s. When releasing floodwaters, it is expected to affect production households along both sides of the Ray River in Ho Chi Minh City, including the communes of Xuan Son, Ho Tram, Hoa Hoi, Bau Lam, Dat Do, Phuoc Hai. Therefore, the Center has issued a document notifying localities to grasp and be proactive in production.

Upon receiving the information, localities quickly deployed it to the hamlet management board, widely notifying people living and farming along the riverbank. Absolutely do not let people fish or crawl to catch snails in the downstream area while the project is releasing floodwaters.

It is known that since July 2013, the Song Ray Lake project has been completed and started to store water on an area of 2,503 hectares, with a 75m dam elevation, and a capacity of 215 million m3.

Along with Da Den Lake (through a 36km long connection), water has been provided for production, daily life and irrigation for most of the area of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
