Dong Nai - On October 20, Tri An Hydropower Company announced the first spillway to regulate the Tri An hydropower reservoir (phase 2).

According to the announcement, at 10:00 a.m. on October 20, the upstream water level of the reservoir was about 61.4 m and the water flow through the spillway was 0 m3/s.

To ensure flood prevention capacity, the company discharged water through the spillway to regulate the reservoir at 2:00 p.m. on October 21 with a water flow through the spillway of 160 m3/s.

Depending on the weather, the water level of Tri An hydroelectric reservoir, the water level downstream of the river at Bien Hoa hydrological station, the company can change the water flow discharged through the spillway.

Previously, on October 19, Tri An Hydropower Plant closed the spillway, hundreds of people went to the foot of the dam to hunt for giant fish.

According to many people, every time Tri An hydropower plant releases overflow, then closes the floodgates like "heaven's lucky spot" because many people can earn millions by catching big fish.

Tri An Hydropower Plant has 4 generators, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate domestic and production water sources, push salinity and regulate floods in downstream areas.
