Dong Nai - At 2:00 p.m. on September 30, Tri An Hydropower Reservoir closed its dam, ending spillway discharge after 8 days.

On September 30, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vo Tan Nhan - Director of Tri An Hydropower Company confirmed that this afternoon, Tri An Hydropower will close the dam and stop spillway discharge.

According to the announcement of Tri An Hydropower Company at 9:00 a.m. on September 30, hydrological information of Tri An Hydropower reservoir, upstream water level of the reservoir: 60.77m, downstream water level at the plant is 4.8m, water flow to the reservoir is 810m3/s. Water flow through the spillway is 160m3/s, water flow through the turbine generator is 815m3/s.

Tri An Hydropower Company will stop releasing water through the spillway at 2:00 p.m. on September 30, with the water flow through the spillway being 0m3/s, the water flow through the turbine generator: from 800m3/s to 850m3/s, the total water flow discharged downstream from 800m3/s to 850m3/s.

Previously, on September 23, Tri An Hydropower Plant began to release flood water through the spillway.

It is known that many years ago, after Tri An Hydropower Plant closed its floodgates, hundreds of people flocked to the spillway early in the morning to catch "giant" fish, then sold them on the spot, many people earned millions.

Tri An Hydropower Plant was inaugurated and put into operation in 1991. Currently, the plant has 4 units, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate water sources for daily life, production, repelling salinity and regulating floods for downstream areas.
