Water level is nearly 61m, the largest hydroelectric reservoir in the South discharges floodwater from 4 gates

HÀ ANH CHIẾN |

Dong Nai - Tri An Hydropower Reservoir continues to discharge flood water through the spillway with the total discharge flow downstream increasing from 1,440 m3/s - 1,490 m3/s, discharging from 4 gates.

According to the announcement of Tri An Hydropower Company on increasing the spillway to regulate the Tri An Hydropower reservoir, at 8:00 a.m. on September 25, the upstream water level of the reservoir was nearly 61m (safety level is 62m), the downstream water level at the plant was 5.7m, the water flow to the reservoir was 1,400m3/s. The water flow through the spillway was 480m3/s, the water flow through the power generation turbine was 830m3/s.

To ensure flood prevention capacity, combined with the downstream water level at Bien Hoa Hydrological Station having passed the peak tide and being lower than 1.5m, Tri An Hydropower Plant increased the amount of water released to regulate the reservoir.

At 2:00 p.m. on September 25, the water flow through the spillway was 640 cubic meters per second, the water flow through the turbine was 800-850 cubic meters per second, and the total water flow downstream was 1,440-1,490 cubic meters per second.

On September 25, speaking to Lao Dong newspaper reporters, Mr. Vo Tan Nhan - Director of Tri An Hydropower Company - said that at 2:00 p.m. on September 25, the water flow through the spillway was 640m3/second, equivalent to 4 gates. However, the 4th gate was only at the first level (each gate has 5 levels).

"This is a regulatory activity that takes advantage of low tides to discharge water to maintain flood prevention capacity," Mr. Nhan shared.

Previously, on September 23, Tri An Hydropower Plant released 1 spillway, on September 24 it increased to 3 spillways with a flow of 480m3/second.

Tri An Hydropower Plant was inaugurated and put into operation in 1991. Currently, the plant has 4 units, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate water sources for daily life, production, repelling salinity and regulating floods for downstream areas.
