The Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai expressway has a total investment of nearly 20,000 billion VND.

The environmental impact assessment report of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Construction Investment Project (Phase 1) under the public-private partnership (BOT Contract) being publicly consulted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said that the project has its starting point at the intersection with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City. The end point connects to National Highway 22 (at Km53+850) in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province. The total length is about 51km, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is about 24.7km and the section through Tay Ninh Province is about 26.3km.

According to the environmental impact assessment report, the total land occupation area is approximately 409.3 hectares, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is 182.25 hectares, including 17.43 hectares of residential land; 3.83 hectares of ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, and existing roads; 0.49 hectares of land for perennial crops; 26.2 hectares of land for annual crops and 134.30 hectares of rice land; The section through Tay Ninh province is 227.03 hectares, including 29.03 hectares of residential land; 7.22 hectares of ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, and existing roads; 29.22 hectares of land for perennial crops; 9.74 hectares of land for annual crops and 151.82 hectares of rice land...

Preliminary figures show that the total number of affected households is about 566, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City has 103 households subject to full clearance and 98 households subject to partial clearance; the section through Tay Ninh province has 182 households subject to full clearance and 183 households subject to partial clearance.

The specific objective of the project is to contribute to the completion of the goal by 2030, striving for the whole country to have about 5,000km of expressway; Improve traffic capacity for the road connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Moc Bai International Border Gate. Enhance connectivity, shorten travel time (about 1 hour), reduce transportation costs and improve traffic safety; Promote socio-economic development of the locality with the project route in particular and of the region in general...

The project will build 9 more river bridges with a total length of about 1,339.4m; build 17 highway overpasses with a total length of about 3,420m; build residential roads, 9 residential underpasses...

The preliminary total investment of the project is 19,617 billion VND. The official construction progress is expected to be 30 months.
