On August 26, news from the Vietnam Navy said that within the framework of the "International Naval Officer Trainee Exchange" Program 2026 at the Vietnam Naval Academy, international naval officer trainees participated in experiential activities and practices on Sailing Boat 286 - Le Quy Don.
The exchange program is one of the large-scale multilateral foreign affairs activities organized by the Vietnam People's Navy in recent years, with the participation of many countries.
Before Sailing Boat 286 - Le Quy Don leaves the wharf, trainees are informed by officers and crew members of safety regulations in the process of operating at sea.
During the practice and experience process, the in charge staff and the model team directly guide and correct movements for the trainees.
Immediately after the ship leaves the wharf, the trainees are divided into 3 groups, arranged in the cabin area, steering column and middle column to participate in training and experience content.
The trainees were introduced to the ship control system in turn; instructed on how to hold the direction, change direction and steer the ship according to the captain's command.
In addition, trainees practiced locating ships using satellite positioning, 1/6 engines and compasses.
Trainees are also instructed to perform some basic operations with the sail system such as pulling the rope, tying, locking the rope, rolling the rope; stretching and lowering the triangular sail; stretching and lowering the square sail of the front pillar.
The experience activity helps international naval officer trainees have more practical experience on sailing.
This is also an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and understanding between trainees of Vietnamese Army and Navy officers and trainees of armies and navies of other countries.
On the evening of August 25th, a reception was held on Sailing Boat 286 - Le Quy Don with typical Vietnamese dishes. Young students from many countries interacted through singing and acting, contributing to strengthening friendship.
Attending the program were representatives of functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the Naval Academy; officers, officers, and students of the Naval Academy, the Air Force Officer School, the Information Officer School, along with young officers and students of military and naval officers from 12 countries including Australia, Cambodia, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand.
