On the morning of May 11, the People's Council (HĐND) of Dong Thap province held the 2nd Session - thematic session of the People's Council of Dong Thap province, term XI, 2026 - 2031.
Speaking at the opening of the session, Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - emphasized the requirement that each delegate must promote the role of representing the will and aspirations of the people, and at the same time show responsibility in deciding on important issues of the locality.

According to the Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Thap province, this session will consider and decide on 8 key contents to improve the apparatus and create a foundation for the province's development in the new period.
In which, the first content is to consider and approve the resolution approving the number and list of Deputy Heads, full-time and concurrent members of the Committees of the 11th Provincial People's Council, term 2026 - 2031 to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the apparatus right from the beginning of the term.
The session also considered and approved the Working Regulations of the Provincial People's Council - which are identified as a legal corridor and framework to improve the quality of activities of the elected body.
Another noteworthy content is the resolution approving the policy of establishing wards to continue to improve administrative organization and improve the quality of service to people. Regarding the adjustment of Dong Thap Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050, Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong said that this is a particularly important content, because planning is not only a "development drawing" but also the crystallization of the vision and aspirations for development of the locality.

The session also considered a resolution adjusting and supplementing the 2026 public investment plan, focusing on adjusting the investment portfolio in the direction of avoiding spreading and wasting, prioritizing projects with spillover effects and creating development momentum.
The Provincial People's Council will also consider a resolution regulating the maintenance, repair and handling of dyke incidents to create a transparent legal corridor for the allocation of local budgets, and at the same time ensure funding for "quick response" to promptly handle dyke incidents, protect production and people's lives.
The seventh content is to adjust the list of works and projects that must be recovered land in 2025 and supplement the list of works and projects that must be recovered land in 2026 to suit the needs of socio-economic development in each period. In particular, the Provincial People's Council will consider a resolution stipulating policies to support meals for children and students of the School for the Gifted. According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, this is a resolution with profound humanistic meaning, expressing the spirit of not leaving anyone behind in the province's development process.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Thap province requested delegates to continue to carefully study documents, actively discuss, and contribute many quality opinions so that the resolutions passed can truly go into life, creating clear changes in the coming time.
