On the afternoon of November 18, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to organize the announcement ceremony of the 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship, competing for the Vietnam Golden Star Cup in 2024.
Accordingly, the tournament will take place from December 1-3, at Cau Giay Stadium (Hanoi), with 14 competition events. The total prize value of the Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Tournament 2024 is nearly 240 million VND.
The Organizing Committee stipulates that table tennis players at the national level of masters and level I from 2019 and earlier are only allowed to participate in team competitions; table tennis players at the national level of masters and level I from 2019 and later are not allowed to participate in competitions.
Ms. Le My Ai Linh - Acting Director of the Center for Journalism and Culture, Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee - said that this year's tournament has changed the competition venue and tournament name; regulations stipulate that male and female athletes can participate in a maximum of 3 competition events.
This year, the organizers established a fanpage to provide information and images of exciting matches to fans and the press.
"With many new features, the organizers hope that the tournament can escape the framework of a tournament for the press, develop into an open table tennis tournament, creating conditions for journalists to interact with non-professional athletes in the Vietnamese table tennis community" - Ms. Le My Ai Linh said.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee - affirmed: "The Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship is the largest sports playground for the press. I hope that the athletes will participate in the tournament with a noble sportsmanship spirit, absolutely comply with the rules and regulations, especially the press agencies in sending athletes to participate in the tournament".
The 17th Vietnam Journalists Association Table Tennis Championship 2024 has 193 athletes registered to compete. The table tennis team with the largest number of registered athletes is 25 people. The Lao Dong Newspaper table tennis team has 3 athletes participating in 5 events.
