Storm No. 3 in early September 2024 caused the peaceful Ta Han village to struggle with difficulties. Dozens of Hmong households had to urgently evacuate to a safe place to avoid landslides. Living in cramped temporary shelters, people yearned for a permanent place to live.
To stabilize life, the resettlement area of Ta Han village started construction in mid-November. The project has a total budget of more than 28 billion VND supported by the Ministry of National Defense. The resettlement area has an area of nearly 15,000m2. According to the design, the resettlement area is divided into 3 levels, each house is 140m2.
The project is being urgently implemented by 8 units of Military Region 1, including: Bac Kan Provincial Military Command, General Staff, Technical Department, Brigade 601, Division 346, Brigade 382, Brigade 210, and Logistics Department.
According to PV, after 3 weeks of construction, the resettlement area has gradually appeared. Up to now, 19 house foundations have been completed, 11 houses have been built, 3 houses have been walled, 3 houses have been walled, and 1 house has been reclaimed. Officers, soldiers and villagers are working hard to speed up the construction progress.
Private Phan Van Tung, Air Defense Brigade 210 (Military Region I) said: "When coming here to receive the task of building the resettlement area, the soldiers were all clearly informed of the task and the time to complete the project so that people could celebrate Tet. Everyone is very determined to speed up the progress to complete it this year."
Unable to hide her joy as the resettlement area was gradually completed, Ms. Ngo Thi Thia (Xuan Lac commune) said that in September, when the storm hit, cracks appeared on the mountain near her house. Dozens of households had to move to temporary housing to ensure safety.
"Seeing the resettlement area for the H'Mong people being built is really fun. When completed, it will ensure everyone's life. There will be a safe place to live without having to worry about rain, wind, storms and floods.
Now I just look forward to moving into a new place every day. Solidly built houses also help people feel more secure," Ms. Thia said emotionally.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Quoc Cuong (Deputy Chief of Politics, Bac Kan Provincial Military Command), given the current situation of the Ta Han people, the Ministry of National Defense has decided to support the construction of a resettlement area. The army has mobilized nearly 200 officers and soldiers from many units to work day and night. The task is to complete the resettlement area and hand over 25 houses to households before December 31. This is not only an important task but also a responsibility to the people.
