As the industrial center of the Northern mountainous region, over the years, Thai Nguyen province has been promoting investment in transport infrastructure with many large-scale projects to shape a strategic regional connection network.
Of which, the Bac Giang - Thai Nguyen - Vinh Phuc connecting road project started construction in May 2022, 42.5 km long and has a total investment of over VND 4,200 billion.

This is a strategic route expected to become a vital traffic axis to promote inter-regional socio-economic development and socio-economic development where the route passes through.
Informing the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Thai Nguyen Province Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board said that after more than 3 years of implementation, the route has basically taken shape.
The roadbed has reached nearly 100%, the type II aggregate foundation has reached 97.01%, type I has reached 96.3%, and the asphalt concrete road surface has reached 96.3%. The three large bridges are 95.03%, and the basic auxiliary items are completed.
The site clearance work has reached 99.94%, with only 26 households remaining behind. The items of culverts, underpasses, and retaining walls are basically completed.

The entire route is expected to be technically open to traffic in August 2025 and will become an important link of the regional transport network.
Previously, Mr. Pham Hoang Son - Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the connecting route will shorten travel time, reduce traffic pressure, and open up new development space.
As one of the key projects of the province, the Bac Son route extended to Nui Coc lake is also being urgently implemented.
The project started in July 2018 with Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise as the investor. The project has a total length of 9.5 km, with a total capital of more than VND 2,100 billion under the PPP - BT Contract form.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-August 2025, at the construction site, workers and machines are focusing on constructing sidewalk items, compacting the ground, planting trees, lighting...
Some adjusted details compared to the original design include replacing sidewalk tiles, adding asphalt concrete on the old roadbed to ensure durability and infrastructure aesthetics.
Mr. Do Thanh Chung - Director of Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise said that the unit mobilized 10 teams to divide the entire route, deploy three items at the same time, with the goal of handing over the entire project in 2025.
When completed, the project will remove bottlenecks that have existed for many years, synchronize transport infrastructure, make travel easy and convenient, and open up opportunities for ecotourism development.
Also to shape the connecting axis, the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway is 29 km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, a speed of 80 km/h, and a total capital of more than VND 5,750 billion.
To implement the expressway project, more than 1,600 households and organizations were affected, with the reclaimed land area mainly in Thanh Thinh commune, Thanh Mai commune and Bac Kan ward.
The total area of land to be recovered is 261.8 hectares, of which 147.7 hectares have just been handed over, equivalent to about 55%. The estimated cost for site clearance and resettlement is up to 671 billion VND.
Mr. Le Quang Huy - Vice Chairman of Thanh Thinh Commune People's Committee said that the majority of households agreed but there were still cases that needed to be resettled.
The government has established three groups to directly propagate to each household to mobilize the handover of the site.
According to the plan, all site clearance work is basically completed by the end of September 2025 and the project is expected to be put into operation in 2026.
When completed and put into operation, the projects are expected to create a synchronous infrastructure system, shorten travel time and promote economic development for the midland and mountainous areas of the North.
