On the morning of December 5, in Da Nang, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a conference to summarize the implementation of the One Billion tree Planting Project for the period 2021-2025.
Implementing Decision 524/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2021 of the Prime Minister on the Project "Planting one billion trees for the period 2021-2025", in the past 5 years, ministries, localities, organizations and individuals have actively implemented it.

Immediately after the Project was approved, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) held a conference to deploy, issue plans and guiding documents to review land funds for protective and special-use forests, production forests, urban trees, scattered trees, etc. to implement the annual forest planting program and plan.
Many localities and ministries have good and creative ways of doing things; socio-political organizations, businesses, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and people actively participate.
After 5 years, the whole country has planted over 1.439 billion trees, exceeding the Project target by 43.9%; including 573.9 million scattered trees (87.5 million urban trees; 486.4 million rural trees) and 865.2 million trees in concentrated forests, equivalent to 429,125 hectares of forest (36,745 hectares of protective and special-use forests and 392,380 hectares of production forests).
Some localities with high results: Phu Tho, Lao Cai, An Giang, Lang Son, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Nghe An, Da Nang.
In addition to native and rare plants, localities grow many trees, perennial trees for protective forests, production forests and urban trees on sidewalks, parks, squares, agencies, schools, hospitals, factories, industrial parks, religious works, residential areas... contributing to creating landscape, shade, protecting the environment, building new rural areas, improving people's health.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tran Ut - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang said that in the past 5 years, in Da Nang, many meaningful activities have been maintained regularly such as: Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho, Green Sunday, Vietnam Forestry Day
The tree planting movements in schools, residential areas, parks, urban roads, etc. have achieved outstanding results, contributing significantly to the Government's common goal of sustainable development, building green urban areas and livable cities.
"Up to now, the city has planted more than 53 million trees, reaching 95% of the plan. Of which, more than 33 million are scattered crops and more than 20 million are concentrated forests, equivalent to 8,674 hectares of newly planted forests. The total mobilized budget for the Project will reach nearly 797.7 billion VND, striving to complete and exceed the set target by the end of 2025," said Mr. Ut.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Trieu Van Luc - Deputy Director of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection - said that the tree planting movement has become a traditional cultural beauty, contributing to maintaining a forest coverage rate of about 42,2% and affirming the role of the forestry sector in socio-economic development and environmental protection.
