On September 1, leaders of the Project Management Board of General Terminal - Container Terminal No. 4 and No. 5 of Chan May port said that more than 200 engineers, workers and many vehicles and equipment were mobilized to construct during the National Day holiday of September 2, in order to speed up progress and strive to put Terminal No. 4 into operation at the end of 2026.
Project progress is being calculated daily. During the holidays, construction units still maintain many fronts at the construction site. Depending on weather conditions, contractors proactively arrange personnel and machinery to deploy suitable items, especially work at sea, taking advantage of favorable weather to compensate for progress.
In the last days of August, at the construction site of berth No. 4 of Chan May port, the construction atmosphere was urgent. Engineers and workers were divided into many groups and teams, simultaneously deploying items from wharves, yards to technical infrastructure systems.
To date, many important items have been completed such as temporary embankments, soaking sockets, leveling the ground, dredging the water area and mounting 500 bridge and wharf piles. The entire 1,077 precast concrete components serving the project have been manufactured, of which the installation part reaches about 80%, and the bridge deck more than 60%.
Contractors are continuing to complete the yard foundation, technical infrastructure and remaining items of the wharf. Some cranes serving transportation and loading and unloading of goods have also been brought to the construction site for installation, preparing for the exploitation phase.
The Ben Tong Hop - container project No. 4 and No. 5 of Chan May port has a total investment of more than 1,678 billion VND, with a scale of about 20.4ha. The two wharves have a total length of 540m, capable of receiving general cargo ships up to 70,000 tons and container ships up to 4,000 TEUs.
In which, station No. 4 is focused on resources to be completed and put into operation at the end of 2026. With station No. 5, units are removing difficulties, mobilizing resources, striving to complete and put into operation in 2027.
The construction throughout the National Day of September 2nd shows the determination of the investor and contractors to shorten the construction time and put the project into operation soon.
When stations No. 4 and No. 5 are completed, the capacity to receive and exploit goods of Chan May port will be improved, creating more room for logistics, industry and service development, contributing to expanding Hue's economic growth space.
