On January 25, at Kenh 7 Prison - Ministry of Public Security, located in Kien Giang province, the announcement ceremony of the Decision to reduce the term of serving prison sentences for prisoners during the Lunar New Year 2025 took place. This is an activity of profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the lenient policy of the Party and State towards those who are being reformed.
In this round of sentence reductions, Channel 7 Prison has a total of 632 prisoners whose prison terms have been reduced. Of these, 144 prisoners had their sentences reduced completely and were released to reunite with their families during Tet. The remaining prisoners had their sentences reduced from 1 to 24 months, creating motivation for them to continue to reform well.
Colonel Le The Ty - Warden of Channel 7 Prison - emphasized: "The sentence reduction is a recognition of the efforts and progress in the rehabilitation process of prisoners. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for prisoners to reintegrate into society and rebuild their lives. On this occasion, Channel 7 Prison also presented 30 gifts from the prison's Golden Heart Fund to prisoners in difficult circumstances, to share and encourage them during the rehabilitation process.
Channel 7 Prison also organized many meaningful activities for prisoners to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Prisoners participated in making banh tet, decorating the prison, and participating in recreational activities as well as sports. In particular, the prison also invited singers from Ho Chi Minh City to perform, bringing a joyful spring atmosphere to the prisoners.
