Patchwork is no longer temporary
After a series of articles reflecting the damage and degradation of national highways through Binh Dinh by Lao Dong Newspaper, up to now, national highway management and exploitation units have repaired and overcome traffic infrastructure shortcomings, basically ensuring safety for people and vehicles, especially during the Lunar New Year 2025.
Recorded on the afternoon of January 11, on National Highway 1A through Tuy Phuoc district, potholes and peeling areas have been scraped and paved by construction units. Unsmooth road surfaces with lots of gravel and rocks have been cleared and treated.
At Dieu Tri intersection (Dieu Tri town), the National Highway 1A section is under the management of Road Management Office III.4 (Road Management Area III); the National Highway 1A section from Ong Do bridge towards Nam Binh Dinh BOT Toll Station (Tuy Phuoc district) is managed and operated by Binh Dinh BOT Investment Company Limited, the potholes, uneven and peeling road surface in the past have now been patched and repaired.
On the section from Km17+054 to Km50 of National Highway 19 (Tay Son district, Binh Dinh) managed and operated by BOT 36.71 Company Limited, damages such as rutting and peeling road surface have been repaired, ensuring smooth traffic.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tan (born in 1979, residing in Phuoc An commune, Tuy Phuoc district), a traditional motorbike taxi driver, shared: "After the newspaper reported, people patched up the potholes, damaged road surfaces, and cleared away rocks and gravel on the road... This time they repaired it more carefully, not as makeshift as the previous times. Although it was not very smooth, it ensured safety for passersby, especially during Tet."
"Healthy" road before Tet
Regarding the repair of damage on National Highway 1A, Mr. Nguyen Van Phon - Head of Nam Binh Dinh BOT Toll Station (Binh Dinh BOT Investment Company Limited) said that after receiving the report, the unit sent a team to inspect and repair. However, in the past 2 months, Binh Dinh has continuously suffered from heavy and prolonged rains, making the repair difficult.
"Up to now, we have almost completely repaired the potholes and peeling road surfaces on the route operated by the company. From now until the Lunar New Year 2025, we will complete the repair of the damage on the route, so that people can travel safely during Tet," Mr. Phon affirmed.
According to Mr. Phon, recently, there have been a number of accidents related to road surface damage on the route, which is something no investor wants.
"After Tet, we will ask the Vietnam Road Administration to allocate funds or mobilize other capital sources to focus on repairing and upgrading the section of the route operated by the company, so that people can travel safely," said Mr. Phon.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung - Director of BOT 36.71 Company Limited said that the unit has completed repairing damaged spots on National Highway 19. "Up to now, the unit has completed handling the traffic infrastructure problems on the route, ensuring safety for vehicles participating in traffic, especially during Tet," said Mr. Dung.
