On the morning of December 11, Mr. Dang Van Hoa - Chief of Office of Vinasarcom of Thua Thien Hue province said that the Management Board of Irrigation Construction Investment Project 5 has just announced the regulation of water from Ta Trach reservoir to the downstream of Huong River.
Accordingly, based on the forecast of the meteorological agency, the water level at the lake as well as to ensure safe operation, proactively respond to dangerous weather conditions, Ta Trach Lake will regulate water through a spillway from 300m3/s - 500m3/s downstream from 11am on December 11.
Previously, the Hydrometeorological Station of Thua Thien Hue province issued a warning of heavy rain in the locality from December 11 to 15. The total rainfall for the period is generally 150 - 400mm, with some places receiving over 500mm of rain, with heavy rain concentrated on December 12 - 14.
Heavy rain is likely to cause floods, flash floods, landslides, and rock slides in mountainous areas and along small rivers and streams in A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phong Dien, Phu Loc districts and Huong Tra town.
The Hydrometeorological Station of Thua Thien Hue province recommends that people proactively guard against localized rain in a short period of time (can reach over 200mm/6 hours) which can cause flooding in urban areas, low-lying areas and roads with poor drainage systems.
Meanwhile, according to the Central Central Region Hydrometeorological Station, the water level on the Huong River and Bo River (Thua Thien Hue) is below alert level 1.
However, from December 11 to 15, the water on the Bo River and the Huong River is likely to flood. During this flood, the flood peak on the Huong River and the Bo River will be at alert level 2 to alert level 3.
High risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, constructions and flooding along rivers and streams, flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
Floods and inundation of rivers will damage river structures, affect aquaculture ponds, the living environment and economic and social activities.
