On October 15, the Hue City Civil Defense Command requested agencies, units and localities to proactively deploy response plans to the widespread heavy rain forecast to occur from October 19 to 24, which may last until the end of the month.
According to the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone combined with cold air and high-altitude easterly wind disturbances, from the evening of October 19, the mainland area of Hue City is likely to experience prolonged heavy rain. The sea area has strong winds, big waves, the risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
The Hue City Civil Defense Command requires localities to review natural disaster prevention plans according to the "4 on-site" motto; ensure the safety of dams, low-lying areas, seafood systems, crops and goods at markets and production facilities.
People are advised to reserve necessities and be ready to evacuate when necessary.
Mr. Dang Van Hoa - Head of the Department of Irrigation and Climate Change of Hue City said that Binh Dien Hydropower Plant has announced the regulation of reservoirs to ensure safe operation in the face of heavy rain.
Accordingly, from 2:00 p.m. on October 15, the plant increased the flow through the spillway and turbine by about 120 - 200 m3/s, depending on the actual amount of water flowing into the lake. The People's Committees of Kim Long Ward and Binh Dien Commune are required to notify people in the downstream area to proactively respond, ensuring the safety of life and property.
