On June 20, a heavy rain in the early morning caused a section of Vo Nguyen Giap Street, near Co May Bridge (Ward 12, Vung Tau City) to be flooded, causing traffic congestion for many hours from Long Son Intersection to Co May Bridge (from Vung Tau to Ba Ria City).
According to records, heavy rain, lasting for a long time in the early morning, caused a road section of about 100m to be flooded from 30-50cm, causing vehicles to move slowly through the area.
The rain and flooding during rush hour in the morning with a lot of vehicles participating in traffic, led to a traffic jam lasting nearly 3km from Co May bridge to Long Son intersection for many hours. Traffic forces were also present to regulate and instruct some vehicles to turn around and move in other directions...
The prolonged congestion not only directly affects people's lives but also delays many people's working hours, because this is the gateway route of Vung Tau City; at the same time, it is the main connecting route between Vung Tau City and the Provincial Administrative Center. Previously, this area was also flooded due to heavy rain, but this is the first time it has caused serious traffic jams and congestion.
The Department of Construction of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that the unit has established a team to survey the scene to find the cause and develop a solution to avoid a similar incident.
