Urgent evacuation of households after hill cracked

Thanh Hoa - After a large crack appeared on the hill, local authorities quickly evacuated households from the dangerous area.

On the evening of October 3, the People's Committee of Nhu Thanh district (Thanh Hoa province) informed that during the day, the district's functional forces conducted an inspection and discovered a crack and subsidence about 50m long on the hillside (in Dong Phong village, Phuong Nghi commune).

Through inspection, it was determined that the crack was near the top, about 50m from the foot of the hill, the crack was 0.1m to 0.3m wide, some sections had subsided from 0.5 to 1m, and was developing complicatedly.

It is known that this is a family's acacia hill, located next to the inter-district road from Phuong Nghi commune (Nhu Thanh district) to Thuong Ninh commune (Nhu Xuan district).

According to the representative of the People's Committee of Nhu Thanh district, due to the high risk of landslides, the district has directed the People's Committee of Phuong Nghi commune to evacuate all 3 households, with 9 people and their property, to a safe place.

Along with that, erect barriers, post landslide warning signs, assign guards, and post signs to facilitate traffic.

In addition, the People's Committee of Nhu Thanh district also reported to the functional agencies of Thanh Hoa province for handling measures.
