On the morning of November 16, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station issued a bulletin warning of heavy rain in the area.
According to the forecast in the next 2 days, Khanh Hoa province will have heavy to very heavy rain.
The total rainfall in the north of the province ranges from 100-200mm, some places over 250mm; the total rainfall in the south of the province ranges from 80-150mm, some places are higher than 200mm.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The warning is of the risk of high intensity rain (>80mm/3 hours).
To proactively prevent natural disasters, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has requested communes, wards and especially monitoring areas to closely monitor forecasts and warnings of heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, landslides and provide timely and complete information to local authorities and people to proactively prevent them.
At the same time, continue to mobilize all resources to urgently overcome the consequences of the recent natural disasters.
In addition, localities must deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas, areas at risk of floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides to proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of people to safe places and have plans to support food and necessities for people at evacuation sites.
For reservoir management units in Khanh Hoa, it is necessary to inspect, review and assess the status of works after the recent flood.
Timely detect and immediately repair arising damage, especially degraded or signs of unsafety; proactively prepare and implement plans to ensure the safety of the project when needed.
Reservoir management units must review, inventory and evaluate the water storage status of reservoirs, compile a list of reservoirs that must regulate floods and develop an implementation plan, along with situations and measures to respond to downstream floods.
In particular, the operation of reservoirs must comply with approved procedures; especially for reservoirs that are releasing floodwaters or opening valve gates, there must be flood warning measures, develop prevention scenarios, prioritize water regulation plans, minimize damage and ensure safety for downstream areas.
