In the middle of the night of October 29, when heavy rain was still pouring, the medical forces, police and militia of Tra Tan commune (Da Nang city) had to face an emergency situation: 3 people suffered traumatic brain injuries due to buried landslides, poor prognosis, and needed urgent transfer.
"In areas with power outages, unstable waves, National Highway 40B cut off, health stations have to borrow generators from the commune police to maintain oxygen and light to save lives", said Mr. Le Minh Chien - Chairman of Tra Tan Commune People's Committee.

After consulting the Forward Command of Military Region 5, the commune government decided to implement a plan to carry the victim out of the isolation area by road. At 8:30 p.m., an ambulance from Bac Tra My Medical Center was able to supply a handheld oxygen tank - the dark conditions needed for this rescue.
After 9:00 p.m., the front line of 8 officers, militia and medical staff set off in floods, overcoming dozens of landslides, mud and soil that had reached their knees to approach the old Tra Giac Medical Station - where the victims were receiving first aid. Here, the delegation coordinated with local forces to establish a team to transport more than 20 people, carrying 3 patients in sacks across mountains and edges of the abyss in heavy rain.
At 0:45 on October 30, the two rescue teams met in the middle of the night of Tra Tan forest, then continued to take the victim to the Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Plant area - where ambulances were waiting. At 1:45 a.m., all three victims were handed over safely, completing a journey of more than 20km between landslides and floods.
"During the danger, we only have one thought: determined not to give up hope of saving people even when it is the most fragile," Mr. Chien said emotionally.

After completing the task, the civil defense forces, police and health workers of the commune visited and supported each victim with 1 million VND, encouraging the families being treated at the Bac Tra My Regional Medical Center.
